Home health nurse charged after patient ends up with a broken leg

A home health nurse is charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury after a nine-year-old child was taken to the hospital with a broken femur. West Virginia State Police received a complaint from Ruby Memorial Hospital after a child was brought in with a broken femur on May 22. The home health nurse, Alisha Dowdy, was with the child for three hours when the break happened. Troopers said doctors told them that the break had to have been caused by pressure or some sort of blow to the leg. Dowdy is being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $150,000 bond.
