New athletic director named at WVSU

West Virginia State University has named a new head of its athletic department following a nationwide search. David Hicks will serve as WVSU’s athletic director, brining more than 25 years of experience to a department that oversees 15 varsity teams, according to a news release from the university. Hicks comes from King University, a Presbyterian-affiliated college in Bristol, Tennessee where he managed a nearly-$3 million budget, supervised dozens of coaches and staffers and added five varsity sports to the university’s athletic department.
