New Marmet mayor will prioritize public safety

Marmet mayor-elect Frances Armentrout beat current mayor David Fontalbert by 114 votes. She talked with Eyewitness News, saying that improving safety is a top priority and she’s ready to hit the ground running. She said increased police protection would help when it comes to drug activity. Marmet’s police department currently has four officers working full-time but one is about to leave, taking them down to three. The new mayor said they hope to recruit about six full-time and about four part-time police officers to cover the city around the clock. Armentrout will be sworn in as mayor on July 1st in Marmet.
