Ohio transportation officials break ground on US 33 expansion project

A major construction project is underway in Ohio. Ground was broken Monday on a $274 million expansion project on U.S. 33. The Ohio Department of Transportation plans to widen the road from two lanes to four, hoping it will support economic development. Lanes will be added on a 10-mile stretch from Athens to Darwin, Ohio, and on a 15-mile stretch between State Route 7 and Ravenswood, West Virginia. They’ll also add ten new bridges. Construction on the U.S. 33 expansion project is expected to be finished by 2028.
