Arrest warrant issued after a teen is shot

Deputies are investigating after a teenage girl was shot in Kanawha County early Monday morning. The shooting was reported about 4:30 a.m. at an Alabaster Drive address in Jefferson, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office. A warrant has been issued for 19-year-old Larry Joe Chapman III, also known as “Coconut,” of Charleston for malicious wounding. A news release said Chapman is accused of shooting a 15-year-old girl, who was taken to the hospital and remains serious but stable condition. South Charleston police are assisting in the investigation. Chapman is described as being 5-foot-6 and weighing about 120 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen seen leaving Alabaster Drive wearing dark clothing and walking along railroad tracks.
