A beloved restaurant worker in Putnam County who has been detained by U.S. immigration officials for weeks has been released, family members said. Agustin Lugo Ayala, better known as Carlos, has been released from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detention and is expected to return home this week, a family member told Eyewitness News. Carlos was taken into custody in late June amid nationwide efforts by ICE attempting to allegedly crack down on illegal immigration. He was scheduled for a court appearance days later in Texas.Sergio Lugo Mata, his nephew, said the incident was a surprise to family members who were unaware that there were any immigration issues.
