Bridge fix is a slow process for Gary residents

Some Gary residents have been without a bridge since the February flood, and WCHS TV said theyhave been walking about a mile-and-a-half each way daily on train tracks just to get to their cars to go places. A row of homes along Sunburst Drive relies on a private bridge to get across the Tug Fork into Gary. but February floods destroyed it. It’s a private bridge so the solution is complicated. A spokesperson for Governor Patrick Morrisey said the West Virginia Emergency Management Division is working with a McDowell County Commissioner, who has volunteered to build an alternate route. The Division of Highways has agreed to donate asphalt. No timeline yet for the repairs.
