A woman is accused of driving under the influence when her vehicle crashed into a Kanawha County deputy’s cruiser last week on Interstate 79. 29-year old Hollie Anderson of Elkview is charged with one count of DUI causing injury following the incident on July 22 along I-79, according to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Anderson’s vehicle veered off the roadway near mile marker 3 and struck a parked cruiser. The impact of the crash was so severe, the sheriff’s office said the collision moved the cruiser from 0 to about 11 mph upon impact and broke its rear axle. Anderson was seriously injured in the crash and her dog was killed. The initial crash investigation revealed no signs of braking to avoid the crash, according to WCHS TV. A toxicology analysis is underway at the West Virginia State Police Lab and could result in more charges.
