Former childcare worker to face trial following abuse allegations

A former child care worker accused of smacking children with special needs and spitting on a 4-year-old in Kanawha County appeared in court this week. Amber Seiler was charged with two counts of misdemeanor battery and a felony count of battery and assault of a disabled child following allegations at the Cross Lanes Child Care and Learning Center. The charges prompted several lawsuits alleging neglect and abuse there. The judge modified Seiler’s bond to remove the home confinement requirement, but it remains at $50,000. The trial has been scheduled for Aug. 25.
