Protests against the GOP’s Big, Beautiful Bill were held across the country Monday.
In downtown Charleston, protestors gathered outside Sen. Shelley Moore Capito’s office, marking strong opposition to the recently-passed reconciliation bill. The protests are a part of “Moral Monday” as activists call on lawmakers to protect vulnerable communities. Eyewitness News said demonstrators carried caskets to represent those who they said will likely die as a result of the health care cuts. Capito has defended her support for the Big, Beautiful Bill, maintaining the measures will keep taxes in check and foster the growth of jobs.
