Gov. Patrick Morrisey stressed speed and breaking down barriers in attracting new industries and businesses to the state at a news conference where he outlined his Grow West Virginia plan. Morrisey claimed his administration will make a more intense effort up front to checkout potential candidates for state than the past has seen, conceding West Virginia needs to change its 49th and 50th showing in many state comparisons. “We’re going to close the gap with a lot of our competitors. Why? We’re actually going to be the best red tape-free zone around,” Morrisey said. At the same time Morrisey announced a $400,000 loan for Mettler Packing in Moorefield, expected to generate 50 jobs, the governor said the state has $50 million available for such targeted investments.
