Plea deal means probation for a teen involved in a 2021 shooting

A man was sentenced to probation Monday following the 2021 shooting death of a Capital High School freshman. Chishaun Coller was 16 when he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter along with two counts of wanton endangerment following the shooting of 14-year-old Da’nija Miller. Records said in August 2021, Miller was shot at a home in the Rutledge area and later died of her injuries. At the time, several people were detained for questioning but criminal charges weren’t filed until months later. Eyewitness News said Coller was sentenced to five years of probation after the completion of a youth offender program that was part of a plea deal. He’ll also have five years of supervised release.
