The Public Service Commission is scrutinizing recent power outages. At a meeting last week, the PSC ordered an electric service audit into Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power, according to a PSC news release. The move was prompted by complaints to the commission about recent service interruptions. The independent audit will be carried out by an independent third party. The companies have the opportunity to solicit bids by August 15, and the commission will choose an auditing firm by Sept. 1. The companies will be responsible for the cost of the audit, which must be finished by December 31.
