The USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships that took over Charleston in May is estimated to have made a $6.9 million economic impact, a 50% increase from the previous year, officials said.The economic impact increase also included a 14% gain in visitor spending, according to a news release from the City of Charleston and the convention and visitors bureau. The city said the weeklong event generated $591,000 in local taxes.“The continued success of the USA Cycling Pro Road National Championships reflects its lasting value to our community – not just as a world-class competition, but as a significant driver of tourism and economic activity, supporting local jobs and businesses
