Charleston teen indicted for murder

A new indictment has been returned against a Charleston teenager accused of the murder of a tobacco shop employee during a robbery last year. Barack Howard Williams, 15, is facing a two-count indictment for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery, according to court documents. The difference between the two indictments, according to Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney Debra Rusnak, is the subsection of West Virginia state code in which Williams was indicted for first-degree robbery. The initial indictment had the wrong subsection. Williams had been set to stand trial next month for the murder of Caden Martin, 19, of Charleston. He will be arraigned on the most recent indictment on Monday. If convicted, Williams faces life in prison with a chance at parole after 15 years. West Virginia law prohibits juveniles from receiving lifetime sentences without mercy.
