DoH outlines plan for Jefferson Road construction and detours

A long-awaited roadwork project is set to undergo more construction, according to the West Virginia Department of Highways website. Roadwork that started Monday closed the entrance to Jefferson Road/WV 601 south from US 60. The closure will not affect the Southbound sections of WV 601 past the South Charleston Community Center, according to the DoH.

Access to Bob Evans/McDonald’s will remain open via the northbound lane of Jefferson Road. To access the roundabout, detour signs will direct traffic to Kanawha Turnpike via Chestnut Street, or via Montrose Drive. In the new traffic pattern, the bridge will be open for northbound and southbound traffic. The project is about 80 percent finished.
