First reposnders saved 61 year old woman after boat overturned

First responders made a successful water rescue in Barbour County Thursday after a couple’s boat capsized in the Tygart River. A missing boater was reported about 7 p.m. near the Cove Run river access in Moatsville, according to a news release from West Virginia State Police. The news release said a 61-year-old woman was “swept downriver over a series of waterfalls” after a boat occupied by the woman and her husband overturned. First responders located the woman more than a mile downstream and pulled her to the riverbank before administering first aid.The woman was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital for additional medical care. Troopers reported receiving assistance on scene from Barbour County EMS, firefighters and deputies.
