Some young patients at Hoops Family Children’s Hospital are trading hospital bracelets for sideline passes this fall. Six children have been named junior captains for the Marshall University football team, including Ama Umeh, who’s living with IIH, gastroparesis, and hypothyroidism. She says she’s excited for the chance to take a break from daily medical routines and be part of something bigger. Six patients will be the guests of honor at Marshall home football games, starting with the home opener against Missouri State University on September 6th.
