Students who attend Verdunville Elementary School in Logan County will now start the school year at a different school. Logan County Schools Superintendent George Aulenbacher recommended during a community meeting Thursday evening that the school temporarily close due to structural issues after a rock slide in April that forced school to close for several weeks. Among those in attendance at the meeting was Verdunville teacher Criste Elkins. “A lot of us had already got our rooms ready,” Elkins said. “We’ve painted, we’ve taken care of everything and was ready to go, and now it’s just ended.” Elkins along with several parents voiced their concerns about the many unanswered questions regarding this decision as it came a little under three weeks before the first day of school.
