The attorney general of West Virginia has filed a lawsuit against a company accused of playing a large role in the opioid epidemic in the Mountain State. The lawsuit, filed against Express Scripts – which is now Evernorth Health – accuses the company of being a “central architect” of the region’s opioid crisis. WCHS TV said the pharmacy benefit manager negotiates drug prices with pharmaceutical companies, lists of covered drugs and processes pharmacy claims, among other things, and is accused in the lawsuit of conspiring with opioid manufacturers to deceptively market the drugs.
