An arrest has been made after Charleston saw 35 overdoses in 24 hours earlier this week, according to city officials. Anton Jeffries, 31, of Akron, Ohio, was arrested Thursday for possession with intent to deliver fentanyl in connection with the dozens of overdoses, Charleston police said in a news conference on Friday. The arrest comes after what Charleston Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin called an “extremely challenging time” during the 24 hours spanning Wednesday night to Thursday night that saw 35 overdoses. According to Eyewitness News, officials said of the 35 overdoses, 30 required hospital care, officials told.
