Ashland to get a new multi-million dollar convention center

Ashland is about to break ground on a new convention center. Eyewitness News said plans call for the proposed convention center to be built beside the Paramount Arts Center at a cost of around $35 million. They’ll use federal, state and local money. The convention center is a 30,000 square foot facility that recently received $2 million in federal funds. Mayor Chuck Charles says that money will be used for technology to make everything state of the art inside the facility. The convention center is scheduled to take two years to build. When finished, it is expected to create 191 jobs and boost tourism revenue by a half a million dollars.
