Court date set for Friday in Sheetz shooting case

A Kanawha County grand jury has indicted an 18-year-old Charleston man in connection with a deadly shooting at a gas station earlier this year.

Jacob Fields faces charges of first-degree murder, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and wanton endangerment. He’s accused of fatally shooting 42-year-old Tiffany Adkins of Marmet on May 27 near the Sheetz gas station on MacCorkle Avenue Southeast.

Investigators say Fields initially claimed the shooting was accidental, but after looking at camera footage, detectives determined he intentionally raised the gun and fired.

Fields is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, October 3 before Judge Maryclaire Akers.
