A Kanawha County lawmaker has provided updates regarding an ongoing road-widening project. Following a meeting with Division of Highways officials, Del. Andy Shamblin relayed new information on efforts improve Cross Lanes roadways. Eyewitness News said a tentative new completion date of February 2027 has been set. The work zone remained dormant for about a year due to utility issues, according to Shamblin, but a rendering of the project is expected next week which will jumpstart the process again. It will include five lanes from Interstate 64 to a four-way stop with a middle turning lane. As part of the project, the DOH is expected to repair sinkholes along Lower Sun Valley Drive and adjust traffic lights.
