Fall fire season to start October 1

Fall fire season runs from Oct. 1 through the end of the year and there are burning restrictions to keep in mind. From next Wednesday through December 31, outdoor burning is restricted to the hours of 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to the West Virginia Division of Forestry. Leaf litter is the most common cause of wildfires and leaves are dried during the daytime. They’re asking you to keep fires attended, clear debris and equipment that could spread flames and attain commercial permits when necessary. Those who start wildfires can be held liable for the cost associated with suppression efforts and property damage and face a fine up to $1,000.
