Food pantries in several counties to share emergency funds

More than $700,000 has been awarded to dozens of food pantries in 13 West Virginia counties following flooding earlier this year. Eyewitness News said the $767,000 in emergency funding was approved for 63 pantries in counties affected by flooding in February and June. Gov. Patrick Morrisey’s office said in a news release it will take a continued effort to help the counties fully recover. Food pantries in Greenbrier County will get $13,000. In Lincoln County – $30,000; Logan County – $54,000; McDowell County – $104,000; Mingo County – $115,000; Raleigh County – $60,000; and Wayne County – $60,000. Morrisey opened an application process for food pantries in counties receiving a federal disaster declaration in coordination with Mountaineer Food Bank and Facing Hunger Food Bank.
