Major work has been completed on the Jefferson Road widening project in South Charleston alleviating congestion that has plagued the area for years. Last Friday, crews finished paving and striping the last section of the road. Alleviating traffic around popular stores has been a large focus of this project that began it’s initial construction phase in Spring of 2022. The idea launched after a traffic study done in 2016 that showed traffic congestion would overwhelm the roadway’s capacity by 2030 . WCHS TV said the project is expected to be finished by the end of the month.
