Marmet police officers to get a pay raise

Police officers in the Town of Marmet are getting a raise, from $20 to $25 an hour. It’s part of a push by Mayor Frances Armentrout to strengthen the department and improve public safety.

The town is also offering 100% paid insurance and annual retention bonuses — benefits that can be rare for small towns. Marmet currently has four officers and a code enforcement officer, but Armentrout wants to grow that to at least six officers and a police chief.

Those interested can apply through the town’s website.
