Ohio paramedic dies in a car accident on the way home from a shift

An Ohio woman who worked as a paramedic in Athens County died in a head-on car crash. Troopers said 27-year old Monica Leigh Perani of Corning was driving northwest on State Route 682 in Athens Township when her car, a 2024 Nissan Sentra, was hit head-on by a 2016 Ram 1500 that had veered left of center. Perani was on her way home from her shift at Athens County EMS, according to a Facebook post from Athens County EMS. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.
