Belle Town Council moved to fire the town’s police chief after more than six months of paid suspension. The decision followed a probe by state investigators that revealed misconduct. WCHS TV said Robert Glenn was removed from the town’s payroll Tuesday after testimony indicated he towed away a truck that didn’t meet standards of being junked or abandoned so that he could obtain the vehicle or take parts from it.
Another officer testified Glenn forged his signature on a document. Last month, a civil service panel backed Belle Mayor David Fletcher’s decision to fire Glenn. Fletcher said while the town has been without a police chief, shifts have been covered by Kanawha County deputies and West Virginia State Police.
