A Kanawha County judge dismissed a school vaccine exemption lawsuit Friday, siding with the county school board. Judge Richard Lindsay, during a hearing Friday morning, denied a parent’s preliminary injunction that was seeking to force Kanawha County Schools to issue a religious vaccine exemption for her child. The mother, Nakesha Watson, argued that an executive order by the governor gave her child the exemption, but the state and county school board said the executive order and the Equal Protection of Religion Act are trumped by vaccination laws.
