Marshall Univ homecomong brings in big bucks to Huntington

Thousands of people are in Huntington for Marshall University’s homecoming. With the flood of people, local business owners like Taps owner Ray Frye are welcoming them into their stores with open arms. “Homecoming weekend is always busy for us,” Frye said. “I know there’s parades this weekend, there’s rallies this weekend, there’s all kinds of stuff going on downtown Huntington. So the homecoming always brings a good crowd to us.” Friday marked the annual homecoming parade, filling the streets with floats, community members and many former Marshall alumni like the voice of Wheel of Fortune Jim Thornton, who is this year’s homecoming Grand Marshal. The boost to business from the homecoming crowd only a week before Halloween is great for any small business.
