Schools get checks thanks to a charitable effort

The “Keep the Ball Rolling” campaign is giving every public school in West Virginia a $1,500 check to help meet student needs. An event in Huntington on Tuesday kicked off the effort, with funds going toward essentials like food, clothing, and toiletries. Six events are planned across the state in the coming days. The campaign is led by Shawn and Angela Ball. Shawn Ball, a Marshall University graduate and Board of Governors member, also announced major donations — $100,000 to the Marshall for All initiative and $25,000 to the United Way of Central West Virginia. In total, about $1.1 million will be distributed through the campaign.
