Turkey hunting season runs through the week

Fall turkey season opened statewide in West Virginia on Saturday. The first segment runs through the 19th in all 55 counties.

The second and third segments follow later this month, offering extra weeks of hunting in select counties through mid-November.

Hunters can bag one bird of either sex using a bow, crossbow, or firearm — but no bait or electronic calls are allowed.

Hours run from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
