Barboursville School, a psychiatric facility in Cabell County that serves children with complex mental health needs, is set to close in February. River Park Hospital in Huntington operates the facility, which is an intensive residential psychiatric treatment facility for youth ages 12-17. Because of recent flooding and the cost of renovation, River Park has announced that they will be closing the school in February.”We don’t have enough beds now, so it’s hurtful,” Del. Matthew Rohrbach, R-Cabell, said.The buildings that make up the complex are owned by the state. Rohrbach said he is hopeful that they can maybe renovate and find another tenant who could provide similar services.
