Putnam County deputies increase patrols and issue dozens of citations

Putnam County deputies have stepped up patrols after multiple speeding complaints. Since the beginning of November, more than 100 traffic stops have been made on rural and residential roads.

From November 1st to the 15th, deputies issued nearly 100 warnings on Cow Creek, Thompson, Mount Vernon, and Dairy Roads. During that period, more than a dozen citations were written, and two drivers were arrested for DUI.

The sheriff’s office says additional patrols are planned for Dupont Road, Cross Lanes Drive, Scott Depot Road, and Hurricane Creek Road.

Deputies are reminding drivers to watch their speed, especially on roads branching off the county’s main roadways.
