Firefighters said four people who became stranded while riding a side-by-side in Kanawha County were rescued late Thursday night. Emergency crews were dispatched to the Hughes Creek area and searched for a group whose vehicle became stuck in mud, according to a social media post from the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department.The post said the four hiked nearly five miles to find cell service and call for help.Using GPS, firefighters found the stranded party huddled around a campfire and loaded them into a headed side-by-side which drove to a waiting ambulance.Glasgow firefighters reported receiving assistance from and Cedar Grove volunteers, Kanawha County Ambulance, deputies and emergency dispatchers.
