A child is dead after a head-on crash Tuesday evening in Kanawha County. Deputies say it happened just before five on Lens Creek Road, when a utility truck and an SUV collided in the 2000 block.
The impact caused the truck to overturn, while the SUV — carrying a mother and her 8-year-old daughter — ended up in a ditch. First responders say the child was ejected in the crash, and lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.
The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Deputies say Lens Creek Road will remain closed for several hours as the investigation continues.
