A 91-year-old West Virginia man was found dead following a fire at a residence where he allegedly held a woman hostage the day before, deputies said. The Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office and West Virginia State Police were initially called to a home along Feller Drive near Levels, on Tuesday after a woman reported she was being threatened with a gun before disconnecting the call, a news release said. When deputies arrived, they said the male suspect, later identified as the 91-year-old man, refused to come to the door and was allegedly holding a woman in her 80s at gunpoint and knifepoint. Deputies the woman was able to safely exit the home, but the man, whom the woman said was suffering from a “brain bleed” that was causing erratic behavior still refused to leave.
