Residents of the Lakewood area in St. Albans woke up to an unsettling scene the day after Christmas, as numerous car break-ins were reported. A local resident, discovered his sunglasses were stolen after receiving a text from his best friend and neighbor urging him to check his vehicle. While the loss was minor, other neighbors faced more significant thefts, including personal valuables, money and even two handguns left inside vehicles. Lt. Sheila Pinson of the St. Albans Police Department reported that approximately 30-40 cars were tampered with in the area. Pinson urged residents to be cautious about leaving valuables, especially firearms, in their cars.
