Cross Lanes widening project could cause traffic delays

Crews began their work Monday to widen part of Big Tyler Road in Cross Lanes from two lanes to four. The goal of the project is to ease congestion for drivers. Work will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. between Andrew Jackson Middle School and the four-way stop at Routes 62 and 622.

When complete, the section will feature two lanes into Cross Lanes, one lane toward the interstate, and a center turn lane. Drivers should expect heavy traffic and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

The project is scheduled for completion in early 2027.
