Fire in Huntington kills three

Three people died in a house fire in Huntington early Tuesday morning, firefighters said. The fire was reported about 5:45 a.m. Tuesday at an abandoned structure in the 300 block of West Eighth Street, according to the Huntington Fire Department. When firefighters arrived, they said they found heavy smoke, but the fire seemed to be contained. Once the blaze was fully extinguished, the three people were found dead. The bodies were sent to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification as investigators try to determine how the fire started. “Obviously there were occupants inside, but it was reported to be an abandoned house. There were no utilities on,” said Chief Fuller.
