A Jackson County, West Virginia man has pleaded guilty in the death of a three-month-old infant.
Twenty-six-year-old John Michael Tames entered guilty pleas to second-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators say the child suffered multiple fractures and brain hemorrhaging while Tames was babysitting. Deputies were first called to Tames’ home in January for an infant in cardiac arrest. The child later died about a month afterward.
Sheriff Ross Mellinger called the abuse “nothing short of brutal.”
Sentencing is scheduled for February 6.
