Judge Daniel W. Greear has been named the chief judge for West Virginia’s Intermediate Court of Appeals in 2026, officials announced Tuesday. Greear also held the position from July 2022 through December 2023.The appellate court was created by legislation in 2021 and opened the following year. The court hears appeals of civil cases, state agencies, administrative law, workers compensation and family court. Greear, a lifetime resident of Kanawha County, will follow Chief Judge Charles O. Lorensen. Judge S. Ryan White rounds out the three-member court.
