A man accused of attempting to burn down a Boone County home during a violent outburst is facing multiple charges, according to court records. Charles Douglas Loftis II, 49, of Huntington has been charged with domestic assault, assault on a police officer, obstruction of an officer, attempting to commit arson, brandishing a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint, according to a criminal complaint filed in Boone County Magistrate Court. According to records, the victim fled as Loftis allegedly threatening to burn down the structure after dousing the home it in kerosene. Deputies reported Loftis was “covered from head to toe in blood” while “screaming and swinging a metal pole.” Loftis was taken to CAMC General Hospital by EMS for self-inflicted knife wounds. Loftis has an active warrant out of Cabell County. He is awaiting court proceedings at Southwestern Regional Jail.
