A new traffic pattern planned for Monday is expected to create significant delays for drivers in Cross Lanes. Road work from the intersection of Route 62 and 622 to Kroger will be affected from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 22, according to a social media post from Del. Andy Shamblin. The post said the widening project aims to have four lanes in the area. Shamblin advised residents to use an alternate route or avoid the area if possible. The project has been mapped and officials expect work to be complete in February 2027. The project sat dormant for about a year due to utility issues. Residents reported an increase in crashes and frequent backups.
