Real ID deadline is approaching in February

Transportation officials in West Virginia are reminding residents to get a REAL ID before new airport requirements take effect.

Beginning February first, twenty-twenty-six, the TSA will require a REAL ID or another approved form of identification to fly. Passengers without one could face additional screening and a forty-five-dollar fee.

State officials say more than sixty-three percent of West Virginians already have the gold star on their license. For those who don’t, the DMV says getting one is simple.

A REAL ID must be obtained in person at a DMV office and costs ten dollars more than a standard license.
