The Grinch has been arrested

Deputies in Mason County saved Christmas on Wednesday with the arrest of a familiar suspect following a lighthearted “investigation.” The Grinch, 53, of Mount Crumpit was taken into custody about 1 p.m. Wednesday on Main Street in Pt. Pleasant, according to a satirical social media post from the Mason County Prosecutor’s Office. A warrant for the arrest of The Grinch was issued Monday the Honorable Dr. Seuss, Senior Judge of Whoville, for the alleged theft of Christmas presents and ornaments. Mason County law enforcement first made contact with The Grinch when a citizen reported a green fury person who appeared to be inebriated on eggnog outside of Piggly Wiggly attempting to steal the Salvation Army bucket, prosecutors said. Once detained, the Grinch attempted to flee on foot, but law enforcement was swift to retake the Grinch into custody. Bail has been set at 1,000 candy canes with a condition of home confinement at his cave on Mount Crumpit.
