A new Boone County 911 center is in the works

Boone County officials are planning a new center to support 911 telecommunicators, the first responders who take emergency calls around the clock.

The current workspace is cramped, windowless, and lacking natural light, prompting officials to create a larger, modern facility with better equipment and dedicated spaces like a quiet room for processing traumatic calls.

The new center, on recently purchased land west of Madison, will improve county-wide communications and provide space for training first responders. Design work is expected to continue through the end of 2026.
