A Boone County man is facing animal cruelty charges following an investigation over the weekend. According to court records, 58-year-old Robert Lee McNeely of Danville was arrested Saturday after deputies were called to his home. Investigators say McNeely escorted officers onto his property, where they found a dog tethered to a fixed post with a metal chain embedded deeply into its neck. Authorities say the dog showed visible injuries consistent with being chained that way for an extended period of time. McNeely is charged with cruelty to animals and is currently being held on a six-thousand-dollar cash-only bond.
